Jharkhand is a state located in eastern India. It is bordered by the states of Bihar to the north, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to the west, Odisha to the south, and West Bengal to the east. Jharkhand is known for its rich mineral resources, including coal, iron ore, and uranium. The state capital is Ranchi, and the official language is Hindi.

Jharkhand is a state that is considered to be relatively underdeveloped and economically poor compared to some other states in India. While it is rich in natural resources such as coal, iron ore and uranium, the state has a relatively low per capita income and a high poverty rate. According to the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) data, the poverty rate in Jharkhand was 29.6% in 2011-12.
However, the state government has been making efforts to improve the economic development and to reduce poverty in the state through various schemes and programs such as the Mukhyamantri Grameen Awas Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Swarojgar Yojana. As per recent data, Jharkhand's GDP growth rate was 5.5% in 2020-21. The state government is also promoting industrialization, agriculture and tourism to boost the economy.
