The e-District project in Chhattisgarh is an initiative to provide government services to citizens through a digital platform. It aims to make these services more accessible and efficient by allowing citizens to apply for and receive services such as certificates and licenses online. The e-District project also includes a citizen portal where citizens can track the status of their applications, view their records and download certificates. This project was implemented by the government of Chhattisgarh with the help of National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and National Informatics Centre (NIC) with the aim to make services available at the doorsteps of the citizens.
Chhattisgarh is located in central India. It is bordered by the states of Madhya Pradesh to the northwest, Maharashtra to the west, Telangana to the southwest, Odisha to the southeast, Jharkhand to the northeast and Uttar Pradesh to the north. The state is known for its rich cultural heritage and diverse tribes, as well as its natural resources such as coal, iron ore, and limestone. Its capital city is Raipur and has many other cities like Bilaspur, Durg, Raigarh, Jagdalpur, Bhilai, Korba etc.
Chhattisgarh is a state that is considered to be relatively underdeveloped and economically poor compared to some other states in India. While it is rich in natural resources such as coal, iron ore and limestone, the state has a relatively low per capita income and a high poverty rate. According to the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) data, the poverty rate in Chhattisgarh was 37.1% in 2011-12.
However, the state government has been making efforts to improve the economic development and to reduce poverty in the state through various schemes and programs such as the Mukhyamantri Grameen Awas Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Swarojgar Yojana. As per recent data, Chhattisgarh's GDP growth rate was 7.9% in 2020-21. The state government is also promoting industrialization, agriculture and tourism to boost the economy.
